Bitcoin Runes, Solana speed.
Everything on one page: what happens when you launch, trade, bridge or hold, and what every step costs.
What Etchypad is
Etchypad is a simpler front end for Etchy, the launchpad that makes every coin a real Rune on Bitcoin and trades it on Solana in about a second. Etchypad runs on Etchy's public API and its on-chain programs: a Rune you trade here is the same Rune, in the same pool, with the same custody, as on etchy.fun.
- Bridged Runes (most of them) are Solana SPL tokens backed 1:1 by their Rune, held in a 2-of-2 Bitcoin custody address. They trade on a Meteora bonding curve priced in WBTC, then on a locked pool after graduation.
- Zero Runes make no token: the Rune itself trades in its own Etchy Zero pool, with SOL or straight from a Bitcoin wallet.
Etchypad never holds your keys or your coins. Every transaction is built for your wallet to sign, and you can check each one on Solscan or mempool.space.
Launching a Rune
On Launch you make a Zero Rune: add an image, a name and a ticker, choose who earns 1% of every trade (its holders, you, or up to 5 wallets), optionally a first buy and a Rune name of your choice, and pay with SOL or BTC.
- You see the exact price first: the etch's Bitcoin cost (two 546-sat outputs and its miner fee at the next block's rate), plus your first buy. There is no launch fee.
- Etchy etches the Rune with your logo inscribed; its whole supply goes into the pool's Bitcoin vault.
- When the etch is in a block (about 10 minutes), the pool opens and your first buy is made before anyone else can trade.
- After 6 confirmations, Runes can move between the pool and Bitcoin wallets.
Prefer a Solana SPL token backed by your Rune (Etchy's Bridge mode, on Meteora or pump.fun)? Etchy keeps those launches on its own site; launch at etchy.fun/create and trade, bridge and claim its fees here.
Trading
Open any Rune and use the Buy / Sell panel. For a bridged Rune, your SOL is routed by Jupiter into WBTC and then into the coin's curve or pool, in one transaction: if any part fails, nothing moves. Selling returns SOL the same way. You can also pay or receive WBTC directly.
Every trade has a minimum received (your slippage, 3% by default). If the price moves further before your trade lands, it fails and your funds stay put.
A trading wallet (Connect → Create a trading wallet) is a key kept in your browser that signs instantly, with no approval pop-up. Fund it with only what you mean to trade, and export its key if you clear your browser.
Etchy Zero
A Zero Rune's supply sits in a Bitcoin vault whose threshold key is held by an Internet Computer canister; holders' balances live in the rune_pool program on Solana, and a Bitcoin light client on Solana proves every move of the vault with 6 confirmations.
- With SOL: any Solana wallet. One transaction swaps your SOL to BTC and buys, or sells and swaps back.
- With BTC: Xverse, UniSat or OKX. You trade from your Etchy Zero balance; each trade is a readable order your wallet signs (BIP-322), and Etchy's relay pays the Solana fee.
- Add BTC from your Bitcoin wallet (through NEAR Intents, about 10–20 minutes), withdraw BTC to it, send Runes to Bitcoin (the vault pays them in its next batch), and deposit Runes back into the pool.
The bridge
A bridged Rune moves 1:1 between Solana and Bitcoin through Etchy's open-source bridge program. To Bitcoin: one Solana transaction locks your tokens in the coin's vault and records your Taproot address; Etchy and its co-signer send the Rune from custody, usually within a minute, final after 3 Bitcoin confirmations. A small SOL fee covers the Bitcoin network fee. If a payout is impossible, the tokens are refunded to you.
To Solana: send the Rune to your own deposit address for that coin; after 3 confirmations the same amount is released to your Solana wallet. Etchy hands out deposit addresses on etchy.fun; once you have one, Etchypad shows it on the Rune's page.
Custody
Each bridged Rune sits at its own 2-of-2 Taproot address: a payout needs Etchy's key and an independent co-signer on the Internet Computer that reads the bridge on Solana itself and signs only real requests. Its code can change only through a public 48-hour timelock that nobody controls. A backup path lets Etchy alone move Runes that have not moved for about 12 months, so they can never be stuck. See Verify for the check, Rune by Rune.
Fees
Launching is free (you pay the Bitcoin cost of the etch). Trading fees are taken inside the pool, on chain:
| Bridged Rune, creator keeps fees | 1.56% | 0.25% creator · 1% Etchy · 0.31% Meteora |
| Bridged Rune, pays holders | 1.56% | 0.70% holders · 0.54% Etchy · 0.31% Meteora |
| Bridged Rune, fees routed | 1.56% | 0.94% recipients · 0.31% Etchy · 0.31% Meteora |
| pump.fun Rune | 1.95% | 1.25% after graduation |
| Zero Rune | 1.5% | 1% holders / creator / wallets · 0.5% Etchy |
| Etchypad, on bridged trades paid in SOL | 0.5% | in SOL, shown on its own line |
Etchypad adds no fee to Zero trades, WBTC trades, launches, the bridge or claims. Network fees are Solana's and Bitcoin's own.
Telegram
Trade without opening a browser: the Etchypad bot finds any Rune by its CA, Rune ID or name, buys and sells with one tap, launches Zero Runes from a photo, bridges to Bitcoin and claims creator fees. Its wallet keys are sealed (AES-256-GCM) on our server; export them any time.
FAQ
- Is my Rune a real Bitcoin Rune?
- Yes. Every Etchy Rune is etched on Bitcoin with its logo and details inscribed, and bridged Runes are backed 1:1 by Runes in 2-of-2 custody.
- Why is the Rune name a long string of letters?
- A Rune name is an address on Bitcoin, like a CA on Solana. Unless you choose one, Bitcoin assigns a reserved name; your real name and ticker live in the inscribed metadata.
- Why are prices in BTC?
- Every Rune is paired with WBTC (Bitcoin on Solana) or priced in BTC in its Zero pool. You still pay and receive SOL: the conversion happens in the same transaction.
- Can anyone mint more?
- No. Supply is 1,000,000,000 forever: no mint authority on Solana and no open mint on Bitcoin.
- Is Etchypad part of Etchy?
- No: it is an independent front end built on Etchy’s public API and programs. Launches, pools, custody and rewards are Etchy’s.
